Wrong web traces timed out

Just a short note on more good news:
I'm glad to find out, that the old webtraces on which we had no bearing, have timed out after about 3 years and are therefore not accessible anymore! (I wrote about that in June 2009!)

This awfull site which remains unfortunately still on top of the google list when searching for 'BRUTAL GOD' now looks like this:















Maybe this is just because someone did not pay the bills from his provider anymore. But anyway: THANK YOU FOR DELETING THAT SHIT OUT OF THE WEB!

Another  issue which is not really significant, but although important enough to find its way into this blog after all is Eddy's visit at one of our rehearsal sessions. Eddy is one of the most authentic BRUTAL GOD fossils around, so hail goes out to him! Thanx for your support, Eddy! There's a picture of him:














So this is it for now! Just a bit of BRUTAL GOD's history becoming vital again! This shows us, how long we are on the road already! And that's a great feeling in either way!

BRUTAL GOD elected for Wacken Metal Battle

Good News von BRUTAL GOD!

Wir wurden für die Schweizer Ausscheidungen des Wacken Metal Battle 2010 ausgewählt.



Dabei kamen wir aus 120 Bands unter die ersten 16! Ein grossartiges Ergebnis, das uns in unserem Weg bestärkt.
Leider können wir die Ausscheidung nicht bestreiten, da ich mich dieser vermaledeiten Sprunggelenk-Operation unterziehen muss. Deshalb werden Konzerte erst ab Juni oder Juli wieder möglich sein! Naja, so spielt halt das Leben!
Natürlich lassen wir uns dadurch nicht aufhalten! Nach meiner vollständigen Wiederherstellung bomben wir dann dafür auch neues Material raus! Unsere Brüder Patrick und Mitch sind schon voll im Riff-Fieber für neue Songs!
Ich selber kümmere mich derweil um das Merchandise und werde die Proben so schnell wie möglich wieder bestreiten! Halt vorläufig nur mit einem Fuss! Bald gibt's endlich BRUTAL GOD-Shirts auf unserer Website!


Gefunden: Bruder Patrick hat noch das Cover des ersten BRUTAL GOD-Demos ausgegraben! Absolut sehenswert! Sozusagen eine Rarität! Es stammt aus dem Jahr 1999!



Schon elf Jahre BRUTAL GOD! Und es ist noch lange keine Ende in Sicht! Eigentlich haben wir erst richtig angefangen!

Aus der Mottenkiste: Ich habe auf youtube wieder mal etwas einzigartiges gefunden! Death Metal in Reinkultur sozusagen! Hier eine NIHILIST-Show aus dem Jahre 1989! Trotz der schlechten Tonqualität ist die Spannung zwischen der Band und dem Auditorium enorm! Zudem sieht man der Band noch die Nähe zum Punk an, von welchem die schnellen Metalgenres ursprünglich die hohen Tempi übernommen hatten!



Aus Nihilist wurde später ENTOMBED (ohne Bassist Johnny Hedlund, der Unleashed gründete!)! Und das sah dann so aus:



Entombed ist für mich einzigartig vor allem hinsichtlich des Gittarrensounds! Sowas hatte man vor 1990 noch nicht gehört. Damals wahrscheinlich mitunter das Härteste im Markt. Hier noch ein Song des ersten Entombed-Albums 'Left Hand Path'! Einmalige Härte und Straightness! Beachtet das Riff ab ca. 2.32 min!



Zu guter letzt noch ein Gruss von meinem Player. Ich höre in letzter Zeit häufig DEATH - The Sound of Perseverance! Wirklich ein Album von grossartiger Eigenständigkeit! Und zwar musikalisch wie produktionstechnisch! Chuck Schuldiner musste diese Welt leider viel zu früh verlassen. Trotzdem hat er uns ein aussergewöhnliches Erbe hinterlassen. Insbesondere hinsichtlich des Unterschieds zwischen METAL und Posing (siehe Interview!):

BRUTAL GOD: Omnipresent!

Hi there!

Happy new year everybody!

2010 has started very well for BRUTAL GOD! We sound better than ever!
Our new brother Michi on bass is really a great profit for our line-up. Be it face-to-face or on the instrument! He is just great and we are so glad to have him in our band! He takes our sound to the egde! Thank you, Michi!

Because of a surgery on my ankle, BRUTAL GOD will regrettably not being able to play shows until June 2010! After my recovery time (which is of course loaded with a bunch of work!), we will surely and definitly be ready to bomb every place around! We are greedy to play our handmade brutal rolling on stage again!
So be it! That bloody surgery is an act of nature beyond control!

But be assured: BRUTAL GOD's Hell opens it's gates in summer! Stay tuned!

Mitch's Geburtstag

Leute!

Statt ans Slayer-Konzert zu gehen, haben wir den Geburtstag unseres hammerharten Gittarrenbruders Mitch halt im Proberaum gefeiert! Anbei ein paar Impressionen mit einer gebackenen Praline! Das vergangene Jahr lief super für uns! Neue Songs und neuer Bassist, der sich musikalisch wie menschlich bereits wunderbar aklimatisiert hat! Was wollen wir mehr! Dieses Line-up lebt den Rock'n'Roll! Dieses Line-up ist BRUTAL GOD!

Jetzt hoffen wir auf ein ereignisreichsreiches 2010!!....Immerhin: Bis zum Weltuntergang dauert es ja noch eine Weile! Cu on stage!





Darüber hinaus haben wir entdeckt, dass BRUTAL GOD im Metal Hammer für das Wacken 2008 gewünscht worden ist. Leider hat es mit dem Gig bisher nicht geklappt! Aber wer weiss....

25. 11. 2009: Nile - Krisiun - Grave

Ein Paar Worte zum Hammer-Package vom vergangenen Mittwoch: Auch wenn es nicht gerade voll war am 25. November im Z7 (Pratteln). Es war ein Konzert der Superlative! Insbesondere Krisiun legten, obwohl "nur" ein Trio", ein knallhartes Brett hin. Wirklich hammerhart! Und sie sind sehr ehrlich. Ich habe eine neue Lieblingsband gewonnen!





Nile waren ebenfalls erstklassig, natürlich, aber leider nicht zufrieden stellend gemischt. Erst in der zweiten Hälfte der Show kamen die Finessen des Nile-Sounds zur Geltung. Sie waren musikalisch und technisch erwartungsgemäss top. Mehr braucht man hier nicht zu sagen! Nile ist vor allem auch musikalisch für mich der beste Death Metal Act.

Ein alt bekannter Garant für solide Live-Konzerte waren wie immer GRAVE! Leider ohne Backdrop, was ich sehr seltsam fand, aber nichtsdestotrotz voller Power und schön dreckig! Eine grossartige Band!





Von den Vorbands stellten Corpus Mortale aus Dänemark doch ein ansprechendes Programm vor mit recht klassischem Death Metal.



Ulcerate, die zweite Vorband vermochte (nicht nur mich!) gar nicht zu überzeugen. Sorry Boys! Technisch ausgezeichnet gespielt, ohne Frage....Aber mit Metal hat das nichts mehr zu tun! Ich höre solche Sachen ab und zu gern, aber das ist was für meine Stereoanlage oder meinen Kopfhörer! Live sagt mir das gar nichts und von Songwriting kann man wirklich kaum mehr reden. Ich finde nicht, dass im Metal die Experimentierfreude jedes Mittel rechtfertigt, auch wenn die Musiker technisch zweifelsohne ausgezeichnet und auch fähig sind, solche Dinge zu spielen. Aber dafür gehe ich doch lieber an ein Konzert von Fred Frith. An einem Metalabend muss ich das nicht haben.

Schade fand ich einfach, dass diese Support-Bands, welche sich aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach für teures Geld in diese Tour eingekauft haben, nicht zur Geltung kommen. Fünf Bands am selben Abend finde ich einfach zu viel. Drei würden auch reichen! Dieser Overload, der aus jedem Konzert ein halbes Festival macht, rührt wohl daher, dass das Konzert für viele Bands zu einer immer wichtigeren Einnahmequelle wird. Das Resultat finde ich nur selten befriedigend. Man ermüdet als Zuschauer. Die Konzerte der einzelnen Bands werden immer kürzer (was zwar zugegebendermassen auch nicht immer schlecht ist!)! Aber von Nile hätte ich schon noch gerne das eine oder andere Stück gehört. Naja.....dafür haben wir ein Plektrum von Dallas Toler-Wade ergattern können!

RAW & TRUE: A few thoughts on Metal Music

I've found this astonishing video on youtube today. I like to share that with you. Metal as it must be! And remember: that band has toured with Slayer, Motörhead and Venom during the 80ies.... Although the audio quality is fairly bad, the power and tightness of that band is still to be felt! It must be around 1992. Just a great example of what is meant by the words 'staying true to oneself'! Enjoy!



Here is another video of the same band playing the top bills of the underground metal scene during the 80ies...



....and the same band today (2005)....Audio quality remains awfull! But nevertheless impressive!...



The understanding of Metal has changed very much. Not only advantageous for it. This is especially valid for all that shit called "New Metal", a name which is an antagonism in itself! Metal stays Metal. There is just Metal oder Non-Metal but there isn't any "old" or "new" Metal!
Today in concerts people are standing around, even during the shows of very well known bands. A lot of them seem to be some kind of bored or maybe just overloaded with all the impressions that are brought to us every day. I seldom see a really hot crowd. People are merely losing themselves into discussions about "new" and "old" Metal, about genres and stuff like that. We all should stop blabbering around! We should just live that god damned rock'n'roll!
There was a time when there was no internet, no MTV not even CD-players (which does not mean I consider these things being bad!). There were cassettes with the records from the underground. And it was hard to come into contact with novelties in the market. At that time, the crowds weren't overexcited and therefore bored! 20 years ago, a Metal concert looked like this:



As fans, we were enthusiastic about every little bit of live music we were able to reach. Even during the shows of unknown acts in very small venues. It was a big party. And that party goes on!
We all should always remember. Rock'n'Roll in all of its forms is there to be fulfilled with life and dedication. I think we should all go to that point again! That is what BRUTAL GOD is trying to do. We just try to live in our band a lifelong dedication to our beloved Heavy Metal Music. We just stay true to oneself! And we are ready and hot to enter the stage again!

SLAYER: Konzert verschoben!

Leider mussten SLAYER ihre gesamte Europa-Tournee verschieben! Offenbar hat Tom Araya eine Rückenverletzung erlitten.

Das Konzert vom 8. 12. 2009 findet nun am 30. 3. 2010 statt. Immerhin hat die Schweinegrippe bis dann auspandemisiert!...

Für alle Enttäuschten hier ein munziges Trostpflaster: Slayer's STILL REIGNING!



Und nicht vergessen: Am 25. November 2009 spielen in Pratteln (Z7) NILE, KRISIUN und GRAVE!
